Chicago man arrested weeks after deadly CTA Pink Line shooting, police say
CHICAGO - A 34-year-old Chicago man has been charged in the shooting on a CTA Pink Line train last month that left one rider dead and another wounded. The shooting happened around 1:22 a.m. Dec. 23, 2025, on a train near Wells and Washington streets in the Loop.
Pedro Villarreal faces murder charges for a fatal shooting on CTA's Pink Line last month in the Loop, where he allegedly shot two men, killing one, during a dispute. He was also charged with trespassing and claims self-defense.
The 120-year-old station is one of the CTA’s most heavily used and serves the Purple, Pink, Brown, Orange and Pink Lines.
